Lockdown from Coronavirus – How to use the drone
Coronavirus is forcing a forced lockdown around the world. No more walks, no shopping and no drone flights, even if drones for emergency activities are still allowed, as ENAC clarified in the statement. (Source ENAC)
The use of the drone during this emergency is limited to a tool to assist the police for surveillance purposes in the red areas. Although in the blog article “Coronavirus (Covid-19) and drones – Missed opportunity“, was hoped for a more intensive use, given the objective conditions in which Italy is currently facing.
Drawing inspiration both from some published articles and from some videos that run on the net, here are some “suggestions” to satisfy the desire for “droning“.
1 – The dog taken for a walk by the drone
An Israeli gentleman (as it seems because some sources cite him as a Cypriot instead), thought it well to fulfill the task of taking the dog for a walk using the drone.
In practice, he tied his dog’s leash to a DJI Phantom drone, which he piloted from the entrance of his home.

Of course, you decide whether to use this method to warm your thumbs and whether the drone, the dog or both are at risk!
2 – Drone for house cleaning – How to help my wife! (ep. 1)
A couple of days ago I received a tweet about a company that offered a spiderweb cleaning service with drone. Obviously the procedure is very valid for those with high ceilings, but if necessary, given the times, you can be well prepared for housework even if the ceilings are not high!
Obviously the drone needs a small modification, which certainly does not affect the MTOW. In fact, it is necessary to add a “spider-web catch“. Engineering is yours!
Note that in addition to the official version made with a drone similar to Snap by Vantagerobotics, with para-propellers, there is also the “heavy duty” version for churches, such as the one made by this parish priest (I think) who uses a drone exacopter.
Obviously having to practice you can fly for hours !!!
3 – Cleaning the windows with the drone – How to help my wife! (ep. 2)
In preparation for spring cleaning, or Easter if you prefer, you can think of organizing to help his wife clean the windows, always with your drone, of course. Small difficulty! You will need a jet cleaner, clear film to protect the drone, and some practice! But nothing is impossible, time is not lacking!
Here the video tha has been published by Matthias Seitz (Aeria – smart.flying.tools – Aeria – Cleaning Drone@Siemens Amberg) (here is the link to his YouTube channel) and this is the link to the video in YouTube.
Ah! I almost forgot! The drone must be of the “heavy duty” type, obviously professional! Maybe so you can pop out and buy it and break your lockdwon!
Update: The full texts of the circulars issued by ENAC on 23th and 24th of March 2020, regarding the use of drones during the lockdown period due to coronavirus, are reported in the blog article “Emergenza Coronavirus – Note ENAC uso droni“. The note issued by ENAC were valid only for Italy (of course!)
